Declining to Sign
What happens if a recipient can't or won't complete their part.
How recipients decline
The signing page includes a Decline option alongside the normal signing flow. A recipient who declines is asked for a short reason.
What happens next
- The envelope is marked declined.
- The sender is notified by email, including the reason given.
- Any other recipients who haven't yet completed their part are automatically taken out of the queue — no one else is asked to sign a declined envelope.
If the decline was a mistake or the situation changes, the sender needs to create and send a new envelope; a declined envelope itself can't be revived.
